How can a college student without dental insurance afford implants for 2 teeth?

During Lacrosse practice in May I collided with one of the defensive men. I have been back and forth to the dentist since then. My dad is in between jobs, so he held onto medical insurance but could not keep the dental. Now I am at the point where my dentist says the 2 teeth cannot be saved. I know I can get a bridge but I really want dental implants. How can I get them without dental insurance? Clinton

Clinton – When you have a missing tooth, most dental insurance plans provide benefits for the least expensive treatment to replace the tooth. A partial denture and a dental bridge are less expensive than a dental implant, and both of these options can replace a missing tooth. If you did have dental insurance, it is unlikely that you would receive benefits for dental implants.

If you do receive dental implants, it will require you to avoid strenuous activity and any activity that might compromise the success of the implants. We are not at all discouraging your lacrosse playing, but you won’t be able to play during the three- to six-month healing period for dental implants.

Even professional athletes delay getting dental implants until they retire from contact sports. A failed dental implant can result in infection. If there is trauma to an implant, it can damage your gums, jawbone, or adjacent natural teeth.

You can find a dentist who offers a dental discount plan, payment plans, or financing to help make dental treatment affordable for you. A cosmetic dentist can provide you with a natural-looking dental bridge. He or she will discuss your options for you. When you are ready for dental implants, they can also be made affordable for you.
