I want dental implants. I know they usually cost thousands of dollars each. I am wondering if I can find them in good quality but cheap in cost. When I do a search I see lots of dental implant places out of the country. Is that my only option? I am thinking about travel, a place to stay, and food, and wondering if that’s the right thing to do. How do I find a balance between quality and price? – Ramona
Ramona – You are correct. A single dental implant with a crown will cost a few thousand dollars. The cost will vary, depending on where you live in the country, and the dentist whom you use to place your implants.
Dental implants are a worthwhile investment because if they are well taken care of, they can last a lifetime. In contrast, dentures are replaces an average of every five years, and a dental bridge can last five to fifteen years.
Additionally, dental implants provide the most natural look and function in tooth replacement. You treat and clean it as you would a natural tooth. You do need any special solutions or products to take care of them.
If you choose to receive dental implants outside of the U.S., in addition to considering the expenses involved, you must consider the qualifications of the implant dentist, the quality of materials he or she will use, and the quality of the regulations in that country for implant placement. You also have to consider the need to return to that country for a follow-up visit, or if there is a problem with the implants.
We suggest that you find a few skilled implant dentists in your area, or within a reasonable distance of your home. Discuss your goals for your teeth. Let the dentists know your concerns about costs, find out if treatment can be done in phases to make it affordable, and ask about payment plans and financing.
