Dentures or go in debt for implants I can’t afford?

My income is very limited. I’ve had periodontal disease for several years and unfortunately I trusted that my dentist was doing the right thing about it. He wasn’t. My teeth are so loose. My daughter finally convinced me to see another dentist and I did. My periodontal disease is progressive and I am going to lose the few teeth I have left. I know my choices are dentures or dental implants (can’t really afford them). The thought of wearing dentures really scares me. Is it worth it for me to go in debt for dental implants and pay for them until I’m dead? Millie

Millie – We understand your concern.  There are a lot of challenges that come with removable dentures. The good news is that dentures can be affordably secured with dental implants for much less money than replacing your teeth with dental implants.

Standard implants or more affordable mini implants can be surgically placed in your jawbone. Dentures are secured to them. The implants will also prevent your jawbone from shrinking, which gradually happens when your teeth are missing.

We suggest that you find an experienced implant dentist to discuss your options. The dentist will let you know about financing or payment plans that will fit your budget.
